HISTORY OF THE BOOSTERS

One afternoon in early 2019 a group of Murphy High School Alumni came together in downtown Mobile with a dream that they knew was a stretch to achieve  -  to make Murphy Alumni known, active and respected on campus again.

After months of planning and preparation Friday, October 25, 2019 finally arrived. The "MHS Homecoming Alumni Weekend Committee" woke up to a horrific forecast with hundreds of people coming in from all over to celebrate the school they loved and not a whole lot of time to find a solution. They made the executive decision to move the reunion to the INCA meeting hall - Grand Hall - and the alumni showed what Panther Pride is truly all about. In the pouring down rain, tornadoes passing over, and lightening striking down, hundreds of MHS Alumni from the the 1960's to 2010's popped up their tents, started their grills, smokers, seafood boils, cracked open their beverage of choice and partied until late that evening. Thousands of dollars was raised thanks to each and every one of those individuals who came and supported from afar.

This enthusiasm did nothing but show the committee that what they were doing was needed. People felt included, welcome, and most importantly loved by all MHS alumni. Of course the following year the group was hit with an unbeatable obstacle Covid-19 and plans were postponed until 2021. Though cases were still prominent in the Mobile area, the committee decided to move forward with a significantly smaller celebration for homecoming that year. Still with a larger than expected turnout, thousands were raised and the group recognized their need was much greater for the campus than they ever thought and their purpose was much larger than just homecoming alumni weekend...

The MHS Alumni Boosters were born!

We are dedicated to not only connecting our Alumni back to their Alma Mater, but we are determined to help those on campus who need it the most, getting Murphy back to where it once was and supporting this in anyway possible. Volleyball team doesn't have their own balls? Unacceptable. Choir without a proper dry erase board? Not anymore. The Boosters are here to stay and our "paw prints" show for it!
